About RwandAir
About
RwandAir commenced operations on December 1, 2002, as RwandAir Express, Rwanda’s national carrier focusing on passenger transportation. It also managed airport ground handling at Kigali International Airport. In March 2009, the airline rebranded to “RwandAir,” its current operating name.
Operating from Kigali, RwandAir is one of Africa’s fastest-growing airlines with a modern fleet that includes Boeing 737s, CRJ900NGs, Bombardier Q-400NGs, and Airbus A330s. Renowned for punctuality, it serves 22 destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe and holds IATA membership and EASA, IOSA, and ISAGO certifications.
Class of Travel
Economy Class ensures passenger comfort with seats that recline up to 15 cm, adjustable head and foot supports, and personal AVOD screens on Airbus aircraft. Amenities include USB connectivity and complimentary food and beverages, with tasty meals served by attentive staff, providing a pleasant experience on both short and long-haul flights.
Premium Economy passengers enjoy wider legroom, a 2-3-2 seat configuration , and additional reclining options.
Business Class offers a luxurious journey with mood lighting, full-flat beds, a 1-2-1 seat arrangement, personal workspaces, and individual TV screens. Gourmet meals, fine wines, and exceptional privacy enhance the travel experience.
Baggage Allowance
RwandAir permits each passenger to carry one cabin bag measuring up to 55×38×20 cm and weighing no more than 10 kg, except for Johannesburg-bound flights, which restrict the weight to 7 kg. All cabin baggage is subject to verification at check-in, and items exceeding the limits must be checked. Additionally, wheelchairs, assistive devices, and infant carrycots with essentials up to 12 kg are allowed.
For checked baggage, Economy and Premium Economy classes are allowed two bags of 23 kg each, while Business Class passengers may check three bags of the same weight. RwandAir offers extra baggage services for an additional fee, which varies based on destination, region, and aircraft type. Excess baggage rates are determined according to the airline’s network policies.
DreamMiles
RwandAir’s DreamMiles is the airline’s loyalty program, rewarding travelers exclusively for flying with them. Membership is easy to join, and as members accumulate flights, they can advance through four tiers: Emerald, Silver, Gold, and Diamond. Higher tiers offer increased privileges such as bonus miles, extra baggage, priority check-in, boarding, and lounge access.
DreamMiles tier levels are determined by Status Miles and Qualifying Sectors flown within a calendar year. The more Status Miles or Qualifying Sectors a member accumulates the higher their membership tier. Enhanced benefits at each level include priority baggage handling and exclusive rewards, ensuring a superior travel experience for frequent RwandAir passengers.
In-flight Services
Passengers can enjoy a wide selection of TV shows, movies, music, games, and dedicated content for young travelers.
The airline also ensures a delightful culinary experience with meals prepared in internationally accredited in-flight kitchens, offering Italian, French, Spanish, and Middle Eastern dishes, including vegetarian options. Premium Economy passengers receive personalized service, such as a glass of champagne upon request.
Additionally, RwandAir provides onboard Wi-Fi on Boeing 737-800NGs, which are available for purchase via credit or cash through the inflight duty-free services, enhancing connectivity during the flight.
Check-in
RwandAir provides online check-in starting 24 hours before departure. Passengers must have their booking reference or e-ticket number and passport ready to complete the process efficiently. Utilizing online check-in enhances convenience and expedites the boarding experience.
For airport check-in, passengers are advised to arrive 4 hours prior to departure. Check-in counters close 60 minutes before domestic flights and 90 minutes before international flights. Adhering to these guidelines ensures ample time for baggage handling and security procedures, facilitating a smooth travel experience.
Onboard Support
RwandAir is dedicated to ensuring all passengers have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable flight. The airline provides special assistance for individuals with disabilities, injuries, or health conditions. Passengers needing assistance should notify RwandAir in advance via the website, email, or phone to arrange necessary support.
Additionally, RwandAir offers mobility assistance for those with vision or hearing impairments, with staff trained in sign language and other communication methods.
The Unaccompanied Minor Program supports children aged 5 to 15 traveling alone, providing dedicated check-in, boarding, in-flight supervision, and arrival assistance to ensure their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
Refund & Cancellation
Involuntary refunds occur when the airline cancels or disrupts a flight, offering a full fare refund if unused or the higher of a one-way fare or fare difference if partially used. Voluntary refunds allow passengers to receive the fare paid minus applicable service charges or cancellation fees.
For lost tickets, refunds are granted upon proof of loss and if the ticket remains unused. Additionally, refunded amounts must be repaid if the lost ticket is later used.
RwandAir may refuse refunds if the ticket has expired or was used as evidence of departure without proper authorization.
All refund policies comply with the airline’s regulations and conditions.
